It's about being understood!
Marketing is the number one question on everyone's mind when starting a new practice.
A significant amount of time and energy can be spent growing our "Famousity" and establishing our authority.
However, as we mature in our practice, how we market should mature, as well.
Marketing failing to evolve can lead to a bottleneck for the practice.
While efforts to attract more clients may increase, growth may actually plateau.
All the while, practice owners find themselves scrambling for the latest "new thing" in marketing when, in reality, marketing the established practice should be about simplifying, refining, and gaining leverage from what is already being done.
The brand new practice owner approaches marketing with the mindset of visibility, tactics, and lead volume.
All are important - for the new start up.
Unfortunately, many businesses stay there.
The aims of the established clinic's marketing are to provide clarity, trust, and to remove any friction from someone choosing the clinic.
In other words, early-stage marketing is about being seen.
Established clinic marketing is about being understood.
When the messaging of the business fails to evolve with the clinic, there is stagnation in growth.
The common trap is to continue to market as a start-up.
Three levels of Marketing Maturity can be identified.
Activity-Based Marketing involves things such as posting on social media because the feeling is that it "should" be done.
We exhaust ourselves from chasing every referral opportunity.
But, perhaps the biggest killer is inconsistency in the messaging with no real tracking or reflection.
Despite the effort involved with Activity-Based Marketing, most owners stay in this phase because it feels productive.
Yes, one stays busy. However, there may be little to now growth.
The truth is, it is reactive to needs rather than intentional.
Staying in this type of marketing for too long can lead to burnout, team confusion, and a flat-line revenue.
System-Based Marketing is when things become more intentional.
Much like identifying the business' Avatar, the owner ceases to market to everyone.
Thought is put into what matters most.
Rather than chasing the "latest, greatest", there is simply a reproduction of what works.
A key shift for the owner is that marketing becomes something that is managed rather than something that he or she scrambles to do.
Examples of System-Based Marketing are:
Intentionally nurturing ONE referral system
Consistently repeating ONE content theme
Every lead entering ONE follow-up process
Crucial to System-Based Marketing is that consistency wins out over creativity.
Brand-Driven Marketing is the deepest level of marketing maturity.
Here, the messaging sounds unmistakably like you, the owner.
The values that you have established for the practice are evident in your content.
The benefit of these two points is that the customer already feels aligned before they ever talk to you.
Translation: less friction, fewer objections, higher conversion rates.
Brand-Driven is NOT about the logo, the colors, or even the "vibe".
Brand IS what people expect when they experience your practice.
Brand-Driven Marketing scales successfully because there is less convincing of the potential customer because they are already feeling aligned with you and your values.
The result is attracting higher-quality clients - your true Avatar.
If your marketing is starting to feel exhausting, it is possible that it no longer fits who or what your practice has become.
Two questions to reflect on for the practice owner who is becoming burnout with marketing:
Where does your marketing feel heavy?
Where does it feel unclear or scattered?
Now that the practice has established a presence and established its authority, the marketing should provide clarity.
Clarity in marketing and messaging is energy-efficient.
Confusion in marketing is expensive - financially and emotionally.
If you are struggling with clarity in your marketing, UNCAGED CLINICIAN offers a short 6-week "Systems Push".
