Does your business have a Voice?
This is a good question to ask yourself as a business owner.
A business having a “voice” means it has a consistent and recognizable way of communicating across multiple platforms - from verbal communication, through your clinic (mobile) atmosphere to emails, your website, and even your follow up/back calls.
What consistency would look like in practice:
•Does your website clearly say who you are and what you stand for?
•On your social media platforms, are you showing your values in posts, not just promotions?
•Do the patients leave feeling proud and supported during and after treatment?
•Are you active in your community in ways that align with your core identity?
•Are you consistent in communication, quality, and collaboration in your relationships with your referring providers?
Why does this matter?
It builds trust and familiarity, it will differentiate you from your competition, create an emotional connection with your customers, and ensure consistency across your marketing channels.
Below are some FEELINGS you might intentionally want to create in your community after every interaction by using your “voice”:
Being HEARD and UNDERSTOOD.
Leaving the client HOPEFUL.
Clients feel CONFIDENT in you and the care they are receiving.
Clients feel SUPPORTED because they experienced personalized follow ups and felt encouraged.
Clients feel VALUED because they felt seen, heard, and remembered. This creates loyalty and great word of mouth referrals.
When clients or potential clients are out there talking about your business, you should ask yourself, “are they describing my business the way I/we want it to be described?” “Do my materials, space, and team/(or I, if you’re a solopreneur), reflect the business’s core values, as well as what kind of atmosphere/culture I/we want the business to reflect?”
If you are not sure what your core values are, please take the time to figure them out.
Knowing your core business values and what kind of culture you want to emanate into your community is invaluable.
These are crucial and just a small part of developing your business foundation.
Remember, everything communicates!
Your logo and signage can communicate your professionalism or lack of it.
What about your website, does it communicate whether you’re modern and accessible or outdated and hard to trust ?
Does your clinic atmosphere communicate whether you care about comfort, safety, and healing?
What is your social media presence telling people~do they perceive an active, engaged, and approachable business or does it communicate you’re distant and hard to connect with?
Even your billing process and follow- up calls communicate whether you’re patient first or profit first.
Please keep in mind, if you’re not intentionally shaping your business’s message, know that your community is still getting one, it just may not be the one you want.
