Do You Understand Where You Are?

External Why!
Do you find yourself looking around and saying, “If they can do that, I KNOW I can do that!”
Or maybe find yourself comparing and saying, “I AM doing that!, why am I not as successful!??”
You sit and say, “I am a Physical Therapist, I have good skills. I have a lot to offer, why are people not coming to me? Why wouldn’t they want to be treated by me? I’m very capable.”
These are all valid thoughts and we all have them but sometimes being a Physical Therapist, (insert your discipline), and having skills isn’t enough.
As a business owner, an entrepreneur, you really need to know W H Y your business NEEDS to exist, not why it should exist.
This is troublesome for most of us because we don’t know what our purpose is, meaning, we do not know why we NEED to exist within our own community.
We lack the tenacity to figure out the clarity of our “W H Y?”
We choose not to dig deeper beyond, “I am a PT/OT,” (fill in your discipline).
It is not enough to think, “I’m a great clinician and have great skills,” this will only take you so far.
Here is where some of you may lay and wonder why there is no traction and why you are not getting very far.
Again, don’t get me wrong, those thoughts are important, but they’re not everything. Apparently, these things are not grabbing the interest of your potential clients.
Physical therapy is no longer collard shirts and khaki pants, if you do roll that way that’s great, and if you don’t, even better, but in either instance you better make sure you know and understand how important it is to know “WHY YOU EXIST” because this is what will make you stand out and be different.
Because you NEED to be DIFFERENT from the other 92 places that are surrounding you!!!
You must express to your potential clients why you need to exist for THEIR BENEFIT.
Developing a relationship, a rapport with them is imperative to making a connection.
You do this by taking the time to ask them questions about themselves and their situation.
Be invested in them. Treat them like a human being, just like you would want to be treated by your healthcare professional.
This means you need to dig deep and figure out, “Why am I here, why is my business here?”
You need to figure out and answer this question: W H Y does your business NEED TO EXIST in your community?
Please do not sit there and tell them all the great things about you and your skills.
Your potential clients want to know HOW ARE YOU going to help them and get them back to their goals and dreams!
Remember: RELATE and be genuine.
They want a healthcare professional who is going to get them to thrive, not just survive in their life.
They need to feel that you truly care about them as a person.
If they know who you are, and like you, then they will trust you.
Think about yourself when you are going to purchase a new product/service you don’t know about.
How quickly do you invest? You don’t. Why? Because you know nothing about them, but they still want you to purchase and invest, correct?
But, that’s not how it works… if you know nothing about them, how can you like them, and if you are not sure if you like them, how can you trust them!?
So why would you be willing to invest your hard earned money in a service you don’t trust?
YOU WON’T and neither will your potential clients!
So, I will leave you with these few questions:
What makes you different?
What makes you special?
Why does your community need you?
What makes you any different than the others that are surrounding you?
